Design Philosophy

At Shoplantis, we believe in the power of distinctive design. Our approach is rooted in the conviction that fashion should be more than just functional – it should be a form of art that tells a story and evokes emotion. This philosophy is evident in every item we create under the Onedder brand and will continue to guide the development of future brands in our portfolio.

Our design process begins with extensive research into American fashion history, pop culture, and art movements from the 1950s onward. We analyze iconic styles, color palettes, and patterns that defined each era, seeking to understand not just how people dressed, but why they dressed that way. This deep dive into history provides the foundation for our creative process.

However, we don't stop at recreation. Our designers take these vintage influences and reimagine them through a contemporary lens. We ask ourselves: How can we capture the boldness of 1970s fashion while creating kimonos that are both relevant and wearable for today’s woman, with a modern and fresh feel? How can we transform vintage-inspired fabrics into accessories that are both special and contemporary?

The result is a collection of products that stand out for their unique fusion of past and present. Our items feature unexpected color combinations, innovative uses of traditional patterns, and silhouettes that honor vintage styles while flattering modern bodies. We believe in creating pieces that not only catch the eye but also spark conversation and inspire confidence in the wearer.

 

Manufacturing

Our commitment to quality and uniqueness extends to our manufacturing process. While our products are conceived and designed by skilled professionals in the USA, bringing these designs to life often involves collaboration with artisans around the world, particularly in countries with rich textile traditions like India.

This approach allows us to combine American design sensibilities with global craftsmanship, resulting in products that are truly one-of-a-kind. For instance, a clutch bag might be designed in our Dallas studio, inspired by 1950s Americana, but then hand-embroidered by skilled artisans in India, adding a layer of global artistry to the piece.

We carefully select our manufacturing partners, prioritizing those who share our commitment to quality and ethical practices. Many of our items are handcrafted, allowing for a level of detail and uniqueness that machine production simply can't match. This hands-on approach also means that each piece carries the touch of the artisan who made it, adding to its special character.

 

Ethical Practices

At Shoplantis, we believe that beautiful fashion shouldn't come at the cost of ethical compromises. We're deeply committed to ethical manufacturing practices, seeing them not as an obligation but as an integral part of creating truly valuable and meaningful products.

Our partnerships with artisans and manufacturers in countries like India are built on principles of fair labor practices, safe working conditions, and fair compensation. We regularly visit our production facilities to ensure these standards are being met and to build strong, personal relationships with the people who bring our designs to life.

Moreover, we're constantly exploring ways to make our production more sustainable. This includes using eco-friendly materials where possible, minimizing waste in our production process, and looking into innovative, environmentally friendly dyeing and printing techniques.

We also believe in the power of these partnerships to support local communities. By working with skilled artisans, we're not just creating beautiful products – we're also helping to preserve traditional craftsmanship techniques and provide sustainable livelihoods in the communities where our items are made.

In today's digital age, Shoplantis has adopted a digital-first approach to retail. Our brands, starting with Onedder, operate primarily through e-commerce platforms, allowing us to reach customers nationwide and potentially globally in the future.

This strategic decision to focus on e-commerce is driven by several factors. Firstly, it allows us to provide a seamless and convenient shopping experience to our customers. In a world where consumers increasingly value convenience and 24/7 accessibility, our online presence ensures that our unique products are always just a few clicks away.

Our e-commerce platform is designed to be more than just a transactional website. We aim to create an immersive digital experience that reflects the vibrant, nostalgic-meets-modern aesthetic of our brands. Through high-quality imagery, detailed product descriptions, we strive to bring the tactile experience of fashion shopping into the digital realm.

While our current focus is on e-commerce, we remain open to the possibility of physical retail experiences in the future. These could take the form of pop-up shops, showrooms, or partnerships with select retailers, allowing customers to experience our products in person while maintaining the efficiency and reach of our digital-first model.
